Campus

 

University's Kathadih Campus is 6 km from Raipur city. Located in distant Kathadih. It is spread over 62 acres of land in picturesque natural environment along the banks of the Kharun River. Administrative Building, Faculty Building, Library, Multi Media Center, Girls and Boys Hostel, Canteen & Mess, Residential Complex, Grand Entrance, Self in University Campus. Kushabhau Thakreji's statue is the site, colorful fountain, garden, Sankalp Vatika, water tank and electric substation etc.

The University has its own study center which is located in two very modern and futuristic well-equipped faculty buildings. These faculty buildings are named after the great litterateurs and journalists of Chhattisgarh, 'Madhavrao Sapre Faculty Building' and 'Padumlal Punnalal Bakshi Faculty Building'. Each Faculty building is three storied where media and journalism teaching work takes place. In addition, these buildings have large and well-organized halls for departmental seminars, seminars, etc., where student-teacher and scholar-seminar are held. The University has a 'Samvat', a 200-air-conditioned conference hall for events and a conference room 'antas', equipped with acoustics audio-video broadcasting facility. The ground floor of the Multi Media Building houses the Library, the Reference Museum and Computer Center in the first floor and the radio station and television studio in the second floor. The university has its own bus service for the movement of students, and hostel facilities are available for the remote students. At present there is a fifty-seater boys hostel in the university campus and a girls hostel for thirty girls.

Infrastructure

To provide practical training to the students, advanced facilities like community radio station, well equipped television studio, programme production centre, Mac Lab, Graphics, editing, dubbing, photography, and layout designing skills and Animation lab and other such units have been established in the University. The University has conducted several high-quality works of Research and Documentation in the fields of Journalism and Mass Communication. The University has a library with good collection of books, journals and magazines on journalism, media, litterateur and contemporary topics and issues. The reference museum of the University contains manuscripts, books, photos and other literary material of great scholars and educationists.


Library and Reference Museum

The university library has a rich collection of journalism, media, literature and books of contemporary importance, journals and research journals. The library has 9,724 books, of which over 1,500 are reference books. Has a membership of 105 newspapers-journals and research journals. About 5,000 back volumes of approximately 215 magazines are stored. About 4,000 books, which have been donated by reputed educationists, intellectuals, litterateurs and journalists, are in the museum. There is a news clipping from 2005 to 2015 on current affairs of journalism and media. Apart from media education, mass communication, management, sociology, spirit, philosophy, language, there is a rich collection of Hindi and English literature. Which includes the compositions, compositions, accumulations and representative works of the major creators. The library is operated under the Office Automation process with UGC-accredited INFLIBNET - state-of-the-art SOUL software, which lists and classifies books from the OPAC.

The library has many state-of-the-art facilities including OPAC, e-journal, internet, Wi-Fi. The Reference Museum houses manuscripts, books, photographs and other materials from prominent scholars and academics of Chhattisgarh. The library has been developed on the Harit library concept to provide a unique and picturesque environment. It has a audio-visual section equipped with modern equipment and is a membership of Delnet (Developing Library Network). There is a list of about 2.5 lakh books, 40 thousand journals, more than 5 thousand e-journals and 1 lakh handouts and digitizations in Delnet.

Digital Archive has approximately 116 CDs and DVDs. The audio-visual section has LED TV with 5.1 theater system. The library has high speed broad-band internet and Wi-Fi to facilitate study. NDL Is a membership of, whose free portal contains information on all subjects for school and higher education.


Our Multimedia Centre

The Community Radio Station (Radio Samwad 90.8 FM)

The University has established a traditional analog community radio station Radio Samvad operating at 90.8 FM (Frequency Modulation). The aim of Radio Samvad is to serve the community of the university catchment area by providing useful information as well as culturally enriched entertainment programmes, seeking to promote scientific temper and the feeling of nationalism and universal brotherhood.

The Programmes that are broadcast by Radio Samvad are created by the faculty and students of the university in our own state-of art studio with the help of most up-to-date and sensitive microphones and transmitters. The studio is fitted with acoustic material so that it is completely sound-proof with minimal background or outside interference. Beside these specializations, the studio is also equipped with an ultramodern futuristic control room where most complex production processes can be achieved. In the studio there is facility for a presenter and three guests or artists to perform or interact simultaneously while the technical and production staff sitting in the control room can make instant adjustments and editing's.

All in all, the Radio Samvad has the attributes of a fully functional Radio Station and occupies pride of place among the broadcasting units of Mass Communication institutions all over the country.

Radio is currently broadcasting regular Four hour programs. These programs are produced by students under the guidance of skilled teacher-trainers and technicians. The main objective of these programs is to promote multi-use information, education, health, culture and entertainment as well as scientific outlook, nationality and a sense of universal brotherhood.


Television Studio

University has established a unique Television Broadcasting studio for production of an ambitious anchoring, news affair program and discussion. TV studio spread in the 2000 square foot area. There are a News room, Chrome Set with high tech modern technology and equipment’s.

Where as we create the traditional approach of a news reader. We keep everything in one space and use on-camera digital displays to bring graphics, video clips and interviews into the studio – giving an informality and tangibility to the newsroom environment.

In a state-of-the-art television studio, students produce programs on news and current affairs under the guidance of skilled teacher-trainers and technicians. Along with the news room is the program control room (PCR) and editing room. Along with this, there is a makeup studio and technical room. There is an e-Class room in TV Studio connectivity, where students can practice by watching live streaming of the program making.

The television studio's news room has a three-cam studio setup, with cameras and dialogue make teleprompters of the XD Cam technology of the iconic Sony company of international standard. The news room has a well-organized news table and chair with collar microphones and control setup. The modern lighting system and control console here have multiple color adjustments. It also has an attractive back drop and graphics. PCR has all the necessary updated facilities and equipment. The same editing room is the latest version of Adobe Premiere Software Suite in two edit suits. Makeup studios and chasing rooms have been equipped and attractive. The university's TV studio is the first and best studio of its kind in Central India, with a highly standardized commercial program Making Faculty Inbuilt.

Spandan (Computer Center)

Today's era is modern information technology in journalism and media education. For the practical and technical training of the students, about 25 high capacity computers and cum equipment are equipped with in a computer center named Spandan (pulsation). Along with this, special facilities are available to students for developing skills like editing, dubbing, photography, layout designing.


Media Training Center

Developing as a National Resource Centre for media training, the university has plans to expand further in the future. At present, workshops and seminars for training of journalists, journalists, public relations workers, etc. for training in journalism, rural and regional journalism, public relations and electronic media are regularly organized in remote areas including capital Raipur.


Documentation and Publication Center

Several research and documentation activities are proposed in the field of journalism and mass communication. Monographs, books and brochures etc. are published focusing on great journalists, writers, thinkers and social workers. The history of Hindi journalism and Chhattisgarh's first journal Chhattisgarh Mitra (190002) has been republished in three volumes.

In Chhattisgarh, monographs have been published to outline the biographies and works of prominent early great journalists of the origin of journalism. Biography of 24 great journalists is stored in Chhattisgarh's Journalism - Our Purodha (two volumes).


Academic Activities

National seminar, seminar, seminar, workshop etc. are regularly organized in academic activities in the university. These invite well-known personalities, whose teachers and students share the benefit of their association. The arrival of these scientists, artists, connoisseurs in the university gives open knowledge of the understanding of the scholars and their direct introduction to many aspects of art and literature, which will surely enable their all-round and all-round development in the field of journalism.


Innovation Stair of Development

A 700 capacity state-of-the-art auditorium building in the university is in the final stages of construction with the RUSA fund. This auditorium will provide an excellent platform for various programs and events of the university on completion, and it can be expected to improve the quality of university programs. Apart from this, a number of renovation works are being done in the university under which the Boys Hostel has been renovated, and an attempt has been made to develop it into a beautiful, well-equipped hostel. Dyeing of university buildings and walls and installation of false ceilings by POPs in roofs is almost complete. The construction of five guest suits has been started in the administrative building of the university for the distinguished guests from outside. In addition, under the renovation works from the budget of RUSA, the university administration has made an ambitious plan for expansion of eight lecture theater type large smart classroom play ground, development of girls hostel, etc., whose estimate has been sent to the state of RUSA and whose administration Approval required.
