Gurukul in the country ‘Kushabhau Thakre University of Journalism and mass
Communication’ here at Katadih on Saturday. Addressing the gathering he said

Later eminent journalist Alok Mehta stated the sure credit for the
establishment of this University goes to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari
Vajpayee and Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh. Not only would the students from
the Chhattisgarh but also from other state across the country would take
advantage of this institution. The day is not far when the student of this
University would take further this great initiative to higher level and make
it globally recognized Journalism University.
Highlighting the rich biography of great visionary and thinker Kushabhau
Thakre, Mehta said that “he devoted his entire life for well being of nation
and serving the people.” There are only few politicians in the country, who
have executed their duties towards nation on the basis of value and ethics
and Kusabhau Thakre was one among those great personalities.
Addressing the students Dr Singh praised the contribution of each and every
person of the concerned department and the journalist those who have played
a great role for the foundation of the University. "This university is
dedicated to Pt Ravishankar Shukla, Madhav Rao Sapre, Hari Thakur, Keshav
Rao and Mayaram Surjan," Dr. Singh declared.
Indicating the several current issues of the state Dr Singh said that
naxalism or any other kind of terrorism cannot influence the role of
journalist in the society. Further he expressed gratitude towards local
residents of Katadih and nearby villages for their presence during the grand
occasion. Speaker Dharamlal Kaushik said mass communication will be an
effective instrument to enhance the condition of farmers in this
agricultural based state. At the begining the inaugural address was given by
Vice Chancellor of Kushabhau Thakre University Dr. Sachchidanand Joshi.
Earlier, Gadkari planted a sapling and unveiled the statue of Kushabhau
Thakre on the premises of the university. At the end Dr. Joshi presented
mementos to all dignitaries on the dais.
